A. Abstract
The topic of food sovereignty has always been in the spotlight of
interdisciplinary philosophers and scholars. From how to conceptualize the
term so that globalization can shape it. This research dives us new
knowledge about the practical dimensions of food sovereignty and from a
theoretical point of view we are taught to understand how to develop the
actions we must take to achieve food sovereignty. To get this effect, the
author interrogated several people with the question “What is food
sovereignty?” in order to answers in the form of information to be used as
a solution to this problem. In the process it was revealed, that although
there are differences between the conceptions of food sovereignty, there
are patterns that play a role regarding their nature. The benefit of gaining
an understanding of this pattern is to reveal the necessary elements that
every problem must require a solution.
B. Introduction
Introduction to philosophers has done a lot of work interpreting the world
of food. And there are some of them who realize that the whole point of all
these problems is to change them. For example, the anthology has recently
focused on the issue of food justice in cities like Detroit, they are figuring
out how efforts must be made to lead to improvements in the real world.
To achieve this goal activists and academics have developed several
definitions. They map their historical influence, and develop various
categories that can help to understand various social and political
conditions. Scholars made them aware there were many ways that made it
easier for them to shape and bring about the globalization of food
sovereignty. Due to the incomplete list of topics, the researcher finally
asked the question “What is food sovereignty?” to the subject. Researches
ask these questions have the goal so that subjects can tell what they
understand from food sovereignty, and the subject’s answers can be taken
into consideration as a solution. And not only that, from the question the
researcher wants to know how the conditions surround the topic. After
researchers have a better understanding of food sovereignty on a scale,
researchers begin to examine how these elements can be the solution they
need. The interrogation that has been carried out also shows that there is a
basic pattern related to food sovereignty, although there are large
differences in Indonesia determining each case they find.

Food sovereignty is the right of people to be healthy and fit for food that is
in accordance with their eating culture that is produced through environmentally
friendly and sustainable methods, and they also have the right to license their own
food and agricultural systems. Food sovereignty prioritizes local/national
communities, economic life and markets as well as empowering agriculture driven
by farmers and families, artisanal grazing, pastoralist-led grazing, and producing,
distributing, and consuming food based on environmental, social and economic
sustainability. For example, in Ciptagelar they do not use tractors (modern
farming tools) when they farm, but they prefer to work collaboratively and their
crops are not for sale but for their own food needs. They did this with the aim of
preserving an environmentally friendly production process.
