Concentric Circles Directions: Half the class will sit inside the circle and the other half

of the

class will sit on the outside circle. You will be given a topic or question and discuss it with your

partner until it is time to rotate. When it is time to change partners, the students sitting in the

outer circle will rotate one seat over while the students in the inside circle remain where they are.

Students will repeat this process until the teacher says it is time to stop and put the desks back in

rows.

Rules: You are expected to stay on topic and be respectful with your classmates. No name

calling will be tolerated even if you disagree with what they are saying. You can respectfully

state your disagreement by saying, “I disagree with your viewpoint because…”, “You bring up a

good argument but this is why I disagree…”, or “I can see your viewpoint but have you

considered…”

Potential critical-thinking questions

1. Those of you that think the bombing was justified, to what extent would further

destruction and devastation impact your decision?

2. Those that think the bombings were unjustified, what additional actions by Japan would

change your mind?

3. Does knowing about the fighting conditions in Asia impact your decision?
