education and culture (Kemendikbud) pointed out the number of free illiterates in the country reach
97.93 percent so that about 2.07 percent or 3.4 million residents still do not know letters and being
able to read. The number of illiterates in the country occurred at the age of 15-59 years scattered in
11 provinces.As much as 28.75 percent of the citizens in Papua are still not able to recognize the
letter and read it, it resulted in Papua Province being the highest numbers blind letter so press
releases received between Monday. In addition, a number of provinces in Indonesia are still illiterate
and not yet able to read. As much as 7.91 percent in the province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), 5.15
percent in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), 4.58 percent in West Sulawesi, 4.50 percent in West
Kalimantan, 4.49 percent in South Sulawesi, 3.57 percent in Bali, 3.47 percent in East Java, 2.90
percent in North Borneo, 2.74 percent in Southeast Sulawesi, and 2.20 percent in Central Java.
