This is a small, rectangular image produced in colour.

It was taken in Reading and focuses

on looking up at modern architecture. Although this displays modern architecture, it has a
very different look to all of the other buildings I have photographed in this project that display
modern architecture too. Most of the other buildings are very blocky with sharp edges
whereas this one has rounded edges making it seem more futuristic than present day. I think
the rounded edges makes it feel very spacious as it leads the viewers eyes into the empty
space. Once again, I shot this on a sunny day with blue skies as I have found that this suits
modern architecture really well and helps to convey my meaning whereby I try to make my
images feel super spacious. I like the spacious look of this image because I think it can allow
my audience to look at the photograph with a clear and open mind as they feel free rather
than confined to interpret it for themselves. I like how the windows have some structure to
them but are also placed very sporadically in some areas. This adds an intriguing nature that
might entice the audience towards looking at my image but it also represents modern
architecture and makes this apparent to the viewer which is helpful to convey my meaning
easily.

This is a small, rectangular image produced in colour. This image feels more spacious than
the previous one because there is more open/empty space included in the frame of this one.
I like this as it open the photograph up a lot more and makes it feel really spacious which is
good as this conveys part of my meaning. I like how the rounded edge of the building turns
the audiences eyes into the open/empty space because this is a key factor within the image,
that I did on purpose. I think this image uses a good ‘looking up’ perspective and makes it
obvious to the viewers that this was intentional. This can influence the viewers opinion on
how they want to receiver the messages conveyed int he image as they are presented with a
new viewpoint/perspective of modern architecture. Another thing I like about this image and
that helps me to convey my meaning is how the windows are reflective. The reflective nature
of the windows help to open the space up and create a spacious photograph as it sort of
doubles the space in the frame. I also think it looks really pretty having the blue sky reflect off
of the windows too and I think this could be an appealing factor for my audience too.
This is a small, rectangular image produced in colour. This image still focuses on looking up
at this modern architectural building in Reading however it uses a completely different
viewpoint to previously. The building takes up half the frame, starting from the top left corner
and finishing in the bottom right corner. This is an interesting framing technique because it is
unique from the standard way to frame an image but it applies the same rules. It looks and
feel balanced because it still has half occupied space and half empty space included in the
frame and this is important because balance is appealing tot he human eye. One thing that is
not so good about the framing in this photograph is that I have included the lamppost in the
frame. The lamppost is a distraction for the viewers and may make them think that this is an
important factor behind the meaning conveyed, which it isn't. I really like how steep the angle
‘looking up’ is, it is apparent that this persecutive was intentional because it’s obvious that I
got down really low to take this. Although the actual building, that is the subject matter, is
quite short, the looking up perspective is still very effective. I think I prefer previous buildings
that I have photographed because they were more like skyscrapers and the size is intriguing
for the viewer whereas here because it is so short, it might be less impressive and therefore
more ignored by the viewer.

This is a small, rectangular image produced in colour. This image is less spacious than
some of the other images int his shoot however this image does produce the bet looking up
perspective. Although spaciousness is a big part of my meaning, so is the perspective used
so I don’t think this image is bad for to being very spacious. Once again, this image shows
the curved edge of the building which is nice as it shows that the building is clearly a form of
modern architecture, and this conveys my meaning. I used a fast shutter speed and low
aperture to make sure the lines in this image were crisp clear but also so that the colours
were as close to how they look in real life. I think I did this really well because the building is
crisp clear, allowing the audience to see every small detail in the structure and also the blue
sky has come out as a very bright shade of blue and this is very reflective of real life. The
bright blue colour works really well in this image because the image itself isn’t very spacious,
where I have framed it to have not much empty/open space, and so the bright blue colour
open up the small amount of empty space I do have in the frame making it feel somewhat
spacious and helping to convey my meaning better than if this was a dark colour occupying
the small open space.
