What is the relationship between faith and culture?

what is the teaching of the church about faith and culture?

What is inculturation and interculturality?

1. The relationship between faith and culture is that they are both influenced by one another. Culture is
defined as a way of life. On the other hand, faith is is a belief and how people view God in their lives.
Christ must be associated to the people’s way of life (culture).

2. Based on Lesson 1 notes about Dialogue with Culure, “Culture is like a body, with religion as its
soul.”25 Thus, Religion and culture go together for religion is the heart of culture, and thus, every culture
like religion has the ray of truth in them.” Therefore, faith and culture must strongly be interconnected.
The gospel should always be put into practice specifically in our culture or way of life.

In Christianity, Inculturation is when there is a manifestation of the word in the local church in times of a
particular situation. There is a relation between the gospel and a certain culture as well. We should not
be afraid of getting to know others that have different cultures because it is God’s way of
communicating with us. Interculturality also focuses on what is common among people.
