I'm Sarah Cooney and have been teaching for seventeen years.

I'm certified in New York State with a B.A. in

History and a M.S. in Secondary Education and Curriculum and Teaching. Over those seventeen years, I’ve

worked with elementary, middle and high school students and I’ve taught Social Studies, ELA, Special Education,

Technology, Literacy/Reading, and Drama.

My experience is varied and multifaceted, as I started my career in public school on Long Island, worked in

independent schools in London, The Hague, and Washington D.C., and spent the last two years at a charter

school in New York City. My passion has always been - since day one - getting to know my students as the

people they are. My professional opinion is that, if you don’t know your students as people, it's difficult to

help them achieve their academic and social/emotional goals.
