Omotenashi is the Japanese concept of hospitality, and the artfully crafted

interior of the LS is the ultimate expression of it. This interior isn’t just
responsive—it’s revelatory. The enhanced available electronically controlled
Adaptive Variable Air Suspension system not only helps to maintain the
vehicle’s low center of gravity while driving, but it can also automatically raise
the vehicle to make it even easier to step into or out of the LS. In addition,
the available outboard seat-cushion side supports automatically adjust to
facilitate a smooth, easy entry and exit, as well as to fit comfortably to your
body while you’re seated.

Sustainably and responsibly sourced from the Agathis tree, available
Art Wood Organic trim features a vibrant grain pattern reminiscent
of flickering flames. Like nothing else in an automobile, or in nature itself,
it’s created by a takumi craftsman slicing multiple sheets of wood across
the grain and applying a natural gloss to enhance the vibrancy.

AMBIENT LIGHTING
Inspired by the warm glow of traditional Japanese andon lanterns and
the welcoming spirit of omotenashi, soft LED illumination warmly invites
the driver and passengers into the cabin. And light sources behind
the armrest and door trim give the impression that the armrest is elegantly
floating, adding to the serene atmosphere.

PO L I S H E D MAG N E S I U M D E TA I L S
With fluid, delicate lines reminiscent of the traditional Japanese
harp (koto), the dash accents of the LS are made of magnesium because
of its unique tactile qualities. The manufacturing process requires
several layers of surface treatment in order to create the distinct feel
and dynamic appearance.

KI R I KO CU T G L A S S
With its delicately etched pattern and luminous glow, available Kiriko
glass is designed by hand to catch the eye and light. Then a laser-scanning
technique creates data from ten thousand different cuts in order to
capture the uniqueness of this human touch. Each piece of glass requires
up to 147 points of polishing, which can take hours to complete.

H A N D - PL E AT E D TR I M
Created from a single piece of cloth, the available hand-pleated interior
trim is a tribute to the art of origami. Simple yet painstakingly crafted,
this masterful trim started as true origami and took four years to develop.
The final expression is so complex and precise that it can only be folded
by human hands.

Technology in the LS has never been more advanced, yet commanding

it has never been this easy. By aligning the lines of the dash horizontally,
the LS helps to deliver vehicle information more easily because of
the reduced vertical eye movement required by the driver. And the
meticulously crafted steering wheel is the result of rigorous testing
and track development with Lexus takumi masters. By measuring the
distribution of palm pressure on the wheel during countless hours of
test-driving, designers were able to dynamically vary the shape in
order to provide optimum grip everywhere on the wheel, forging an
incomparable connection to the road that you won’t see coming.

Lexus researched, tested and crafted the turbochargers in the LS 500
in-house—something almost unheard of in the industry. This powerful
416-hp1 V6 engine is paired with an equally exhilarating 10-speed Direct-
Shift automatic transmission. It delivers the optimal gear for a wide variety
of driving conditions and one of the fastest shift times among conventional
automatic transmissions.5 This is performance technology designed to

and on highways with gradual curves.

detected at speeds above 32 mph, the system is

This system31 uses a built-in camera to help
provide road sign information in the instrument
panel or even on the available Head-Up Display.
In addition to displaying speed limit information,
the system can alert you of certain detected

This system28 uses radar and camera technology
to help you maintain a preset speed and following
distance from the vehicle ahead. Whether at
highway speeds or in stop-and-go traffic, the

slow your vehicle—even to a complete stop. If
driving at highway speeds and the road ahead
clears, your Lexus returns to its preset speed.

offer added illumination to help keep you
focused on the road. When the road ahead is
clear, the system defaults to high-beam mode,
