1) How often can you donate blood?

A) On average, a person can donate blood after every 3


months. However, this limitation varies for
different blood components, as in case of platelets one can
donate them after every 3 days but only 24 times in one year.

2) What is the right age to donate blood?

A) One who are above 18 years and below 60 years can


donate blood.

3) How long does a blood donation take?

A) The entire process takes about one hour and 15 minutes;


the actual donation of a pint of whole blood unit takes eight to
10 minutes. However, the time varies slightly with each person
depending on several factors including the donor’s health
history and attendance at the blood drive.

4) Who can donate blood in India?

A) As a rule, only people who are above 18 years of age are


allowed to donate blood in India. Other essential criteria is
body weight which should not be less than 45 kg and overall
health which means that one shouldn't be sick with any kind of
bacterial, fungal or viral infection.

5) Who cannot donate blood?

A) People who weigh less than 45kg are not in optimum health
condition to donate blood. They may be suffering from an iron
deficiency too. Any person suffering or have suffered from
malaria cannot donate blood for at least 3 years.
