To Whom It May Concern,

The Newport™ HT70 series of ventilators from Covidien uses a sealed battery that
complies with non-spillable requirements, such as 49 CFR part 173.159.

The Newport HT70 series of ventilators has also been tested and passed DO-160D,
section 21, which specifically concerns emissions. The Newport HT70 ventilator series
is cleared for use on commercial aircraft during takeoff, landing and in flight.

The Newport HT70 ventilator series has been used on commercial air flights all over the
world to transport people needing breathing support. The ventilators are also designed
for use in helicopters and fixed-wing medical life flight systems.

In view of the design and documented verification that the Newport HT70 ventilator
meets these requirements, the Newport HT70 series of ventilators is appropriate for use
for travel on commercial airlines.
