Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan (born February 17, 1963) is a professional American
basketball player, Olympic athlete, businessperson and actor. Considered one
of the best basketball players ever, Michael Jordan dominated the sport from
the mid-1980s to the late 1990s. He led the Chicago Bulls to six National
Basketball Association championships and earned the NBA's Most Valuable
Player Award five times. With five regular-season MVPs and three All-Star
MVPs, Jordan became the most decorated player in the NBA.
Jordan is also known for his product endorsements. He fuelled the success
of Nike's Air Jordan sneakers, which were introduced in 1985 and remain
popular today.[7] Jordan also starred in the 1996 film Space Jam as himself. In
2006, he became part-owner and head of basketball operations for the then-
Charlotte Bobcats, buying a controlling interest in 2010. In 2015, Jordan

together: Jeffrey, Marcus and Jasmine. After 17 years of marriage, the couple

In 2007, Michael Jordan’s eldest son, Jeffrey Jordan, made the basketball team
at the University of Illinois. Both Michael Jordan and his ex-wife Juanita have
supported their son and tried to help him deal with playing in the shadow of an
NBA legend. "He wants to be a basketball player, but he wants to do it on his
own terms .The thing that we have tried to tell Jeff is that you set your own
expectations. By no means in this world can you ever live up to someone else's
expectations of who you are," Michael Jordan said during an appearance on
the Today show.
On April 27, 2013, Jordan married 35-year-old Cuban-American model

With this being Antibiotic Awareness Week, the main take away message is
to seek expert medical advice on the responsible use of antimicrobials.
We've all seen it and many of us are guilty of it: A sick child, a sore throat, a
trip to the doctor – and a prescription for an antibiotic. The problem with such
a scenario is that many antibiotics are prescribed when, most likely, the
malady is caused by a virus – not a bacterial infection – and thus will have no
effect, nor cure.
The problem with the casual use of antibiotics is they lose their effect over
time as the bacteria they are meant to counter simply adapt to overcome the
medicine's effect. Antimicrobial is the wider term given to drugs used to
prevent and treat parasitic, bacterial, viral and fungal infections. While,
antibiotic resistance is the ability of bacteria to survive treatment with
antibiotics, antimicrobial resistance is the general term for drug resistance of
microbes.
Globally, antimicrobial resistance is becoming a core political, social, and
economic problem due to it being a critical public health threat. The
implications could never be more real in Asia where, if no immediate action is
taken, about 5 million people are projected to die annually by 2050 of
conditions linked to bacterial infections that have become resistant to
antibiotics. The figure will be higher than the estimated cancer fatalities.
Because of its complexity, antimicrobial resistance mitigation in food and
agriculture cannot be addressed by a single sector or strategy, but through
various disciplines working together to contribute to producing safer foods
and creating a better environment for all.
There is hope in tackling antimicrobial resistance. The Global Action Plan
on Antimicrobial Resistance has been developed and was endorsed by all
countries to address this threat by involving various sectors, such as the
agriculture, public health, environmental and other relevant sectors.
Governments and their citizens must take responsibility when it comes to
the use of antibiotics. For instance, prescription drugs should only be taken or
applied based on the advice of health professionals. This also holds true for
the animal sector, where antibiotics should mainly be used to treat infection.
While antibiotic resistance might not be directly visible, we need to make sure
that the antibiotics we have are used prudently and all efforts are made to
reduce their use as far as possible. Once they stop working, it will be already
too late.
43. What will probably happen if the slapdash use of antibiotics continues?
A. Bacteria could survive treatment with antibiotics.
B. Bacterial infections will be resistant to antibiotics
C. We will face political, social and economic problems.
D. The people who die will be as many as cancer fatalities.
E. Millions of people will die due to antimicrobial resistance

Malayan tapir
The Malayan tapir, also called the Asian tapir, is the largest of the five
species of tapir and the only one native to Asia. The scientific name refers
to the East Indies, the species' natural habitat. In the Malay language, the
tapir is commonly referred to as cipan, tenuk or badak tampung.
The animal is easily identified by its markings, most notably the light-
colored patch that extends from its shoulders to its rear end. The rest of its
hair is black, except for the tips of its ears, which, as with other tapirs, are
rimmed with white. This pattern is for camouflage; the disrupted coloration
makes it more difficult to recognize it as a tapir, and other animals may
mistake it for a large rock rather than prey when it is lying down to sleep.
Malayan tapirs grow to between 1.8 and 2.5 m in length, not counting
a stubby tail of only 5 to 10 cm in length, and stand 90 to 110 cm tall. They
typically weigh between 250 and 320 kg, although some adults can weigh
up to 540 kg. The females are usually lager than the males. Like the other
types of tapir, they have small, stubby tails and long, flexible proboscises.
They have four toes on each front foot and three toes on each back foot.
The Malayan tapir has rather poor eyesight, but excellent hearing and
sense of smell.
They have a large sagittal crest, a bone running along the middle of the
skull that is necessary for muscle attachment. They also have unusually
positioned orbits, an unusually shaped cranium with the frontal bones
elevated, and a retracted nasal incision. All of these modifications to the
normal mammal skull are, of course, to make room for the proboscis. This
proboscis caused a retraction of bones and cartilage in the face during the
evolution of the tapir, and even caused the loss of some cartilages, facial
muscles, and the bony wall of the nasal chamber.
Malayan tapirs have very poor eyesight, making them rely greatly on
their excellent sense of smell and hearing to go about in their everyday
lives. They have small, beady eyes with brown irises on either side of their
faces. Their eyes are often covered in a blue haze, which is corneal
cloudiness thought to be caused by repetitive exposure to light. Corneal
cloudiness is when the cornea starts to lose it transparency. The cornea is
necessary for the transmitting and focusing of outside light as it enters the
eye, and cloudiness can cause vision loss. This causes the Malayan tapir to
have very inadequate vision, both on land and in water, where they spend
the majority of their time. Also, as these tapirs are most active at night and
since they have poor eyesight, it is harder for them to search for food and
avoid predators in the dark.
