Evaluation

Overall, I think this shoot went well. I created four final images which all use different compositional
techniques, angles and perspectives/viewpoints. I took these images at the new boathouse in
Shiplake. Although it doesn’t display an easy to define architectural structure, I would say I takes an
industrial approach that is unique.

I took the images on a sunny day at around midday so that they were super bright and the colours
were vibrant. I like to do this as the blue skies in the previous shoots within this project are my
favourite thing about the images and are also the best thing to make them feel spacious. The
spaciousness of the images is the key factor to the whole meaning I am trying to convey and therefore
this is the most important thing when it comes to shooting for this project.

I used a fast shutter speed and low aperture to take these photographs as it was a sunny day and I
didn’t eat the images to be over exposed because then the building would lose focus. Because I used
these manual camera settings I was left with crisp clear images that feel spacious and therefore
convey my emanating well.

This is not my favourite shoot I have done so far because I’m not a huge fan of the industrial looking
building, I prefer modern architecture however I cannot get to any modern buildings to shoot at the
moment so this was the next best thing and I think it turned out okay, better than I expected.

In conclusion, I like the images I have produced however the subject matter, that is industrial
architecture, is my least favourite type of architecture to shoot.
