Difference Between 2D and 3D interface

2D and 3D refer to the actual dimensions in a computer workspace. 2D is

"flat", using the horizontal and vertical (X and Y) dimensions, the image has
only two dimensions and if turned to the side becomes a line. 3D adds the
depth (Z) dimension. This third dimension allows for rotation and
visualization from multiple perspectives. It is essentially the difference
between a photo and a sculpture.
So in many areas, the 2D perspective is used but it has the limitation only to
x and y. However the 3D has a great approach in displaying the object just
like it's in the real world.
But 2D just do not give that display it’s just vertical and horizontally
describing the scenario.
But in cost, the 2D is very low budget and easy to set up just require simple
display LCD ,mouse , keyboard, and speakers.
In 3D it's way better than the 2D but it cost very much it uses Virtual Reality
technology to work. As 3D uses Virtual headsets and virtual software on the
system to work with extra memory so its very much costly.
But the 3D is good at explaining the concept as using simulation software in
all so many fields for better understanding to the user.
The 2D workspace ordinary window system
 Highlighting
 Visual affordance
 Indiscriminate use
 Just confusing for a simple person.
As compared to the 3D Workspaces
 Use for extra virtual space
 Light and occlusion give depth
 Distance effect
There is reason in as Windows making its interface animated from a
2D perspective. To make it more attractive and understandable to its
users
