Inspect Face Seals
Inspect the rubber elements and metal rings for wear,
damage or distortion. If there isa problem with either ring,
then always replace both sings with a matched pais of
rings. A matched pair is two new rings or two Used rings
that have been run together: Do mot use one new and one
used ring or two used rings that were not run together or
leaks may occur Figure 68.

Inspect Discs
If any of the following conditions exist with a friction or
stationary dise, replace full dise stack:
* Thickness worn beyond limits
‘Uneven wear
* Localized surface damage
* Warpage
* Scoring
* Damaged splines
NOTE:
I discs are reusable, maintain dise stack order.
Disc Wear Limits
If thickness of any friction or stationary disc is less than ot
‘equal to overall thickness Fils, replace full dise stack

Repair or Replace Parts
Replace worn or damaged parts of the wet dise brake
assembly. The following are some examples to check
1. Replace any fasteners if the corners of the head are
2. Replace the washers iF damaged.
3. Replace the oil seals, face seals and gaskets when the
‘components are separated from each other
Clean the parts before applying silicone gasket
material
Remove small damage from the parts that have
‘machined ot ground surfaces. Use a fine-ooth fle,
india stone, emery cloth or erocus cloth for this,
purpose.
6, Clean and repair the threads ofthe fasteners and the
holes. Use tap or a die of the correct size or a fine-
tooth file for this purpose
A CAUTION
The threads must be clean and not damaged so that
‘accurate adjustments and correct torque values can be
‘applied to fasteners and parts.
7 Tighten all fasteners to the correct torque value. See
