Odysseus and calypso myth

-Hermes created the first Lyre on his first day of birth. He made it with a tortoiseshell and sinew.
-Known for his helpfulness of mankind
-Hermes was sent to free Odysseus from Calypso’s captivity. Odysseus saw the goddess
nymph, and was captivated by her. Calypso decided that she wanted Odysseus as her
husband, and if he agreed he would become immortal. However, Odysseus could not leave
Penelope and his son Telemachus. Homer said that Calypso kept Odysseus prisoner at Ogygia
for seven years. Hermes goes to the island, ordering Calypso to set Odysseus free. Despite her
objections, she eventually agreed.
