Hello 3rd Grade Families,

My name is Sherri Begay and I will be student teaching in your child’s classroom with
Mrs. Morris for the rest of the school year. This great opportunity is my last step I take before I
receive my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Fort Lewis College. I will be in the
classroom everyday starting in January. Prior to my student teaching, I have worked in other
schools such as Needham Elementary, Campbell Center, and Mountain Middle.

First, I would like to say that I am excited to be exploring and learning with your child. I
am from Wide Ruins, AZ, which is off the Navajo Nation. I am Navajo and I am born for the
Bitter Water people. I am also a mother to two wonderful boys, Shane and Isaiah. Shane also
attends Park Elementary in the kindergarten class. On my spare time I enjoy drawing, hiking, and
spending time with my family.

As a student teacher, I will be observing class routine and structure, I will also deliver
lessons with the assistance of Mrs. Morris. I will be working closely with Mrs. Morris and will
gradually take on all responsibilities of her role for a few weeks later in the school term. Most
importantly I am looking forward to work with a bright group of children.

I would like to thank you for this opportunity to work with your child and I look forward
in meeting you. Please feel free to ask me any questions or comments you may have.

Sincerely,

Sherri Begay
