THE INFLUENCE OF BABY MASSAGE AGE 0-6 MONTHS IN PUBLIC HEALTH
CENTERS BATUJAJAR TOWARDS BREASTFEEDING FREQUENCY
ABSTRAK
The Indonesian Demographic Health Survey (IDHS) 2010 showed that the infant
mortality rate (IMR) reaches 25.3 per 1000 live births which can be suppressed
through breastfeeding activities. The role of the mother in giving exclusive
breastfeeding for 6 months is expected to be done by paying attention to the
frequency of breastfeeding every day which is 2 hours once every 15-20 minutes on
the left and right breast each breastfeeding. The frequency of breastfeeding in
infants can be increased by using non-pharmacological therapies namely baby
massage. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of 0-6 months infant
massage on the frequency of breastfeeding at the Batujajar community health
center. This study used a pre-experimental method with one group pre-test post-test
design in 11 infants aged 0-6 months. The sampling technique is purposive
sampling. Data collection techniques were used observation sheets. The study was
conducted massage before baby about 11 respondents (100 %) experienced
nursing frequency bad, through massage baby about 9 respondents experienced
frequency for good, and 2 respondents having frequencies breastfeeding bad.
Based on test results on t test acquired p value value ( 0,000 ) < α ( 0,05 ) then H0
rejected. The conclusion there is the influence of 0-6 months infant massage on the
frequency of breastfeeding at the Batujajar community health center. The education
of baby massage to the community is the important subject for Batujajar community
health center’s program.
