Soaring through the air, as free as a bird, no pun intended. Searching for my next meal, as

I am constantly hungry. No harm is intended, but if those bald creatures put up a fight then it is

well worth it. A couple of buddies join me, squawking to make our presence known. We had no

idea what the day would hold, but that quickly changed in a matter of minutes.

It must have been earlier than the normal time we disappear because the bright ball was

still out, sitting higher than me. My bulging eyes peering through the crowds of featherless

creatures, hoping to find something tasty because they do not look tasteful. My buddies always

seem to find me, flapping their wings slower than air but faster than the breeze. We set eyes on

this one group, they are dancing in the waters and making loud noises, those unfamiliar to me. At

first I take no interest in them, they may harm me with their rapid movement and barbaric noises.

My wings are now tired, so I rest on the warm sand. In some areas it is too warm, so I tread

lightly, hoping to get a closer look at food. My eyes wander but there is no luck, or so I thought.

A bag. A little orange bag. A little orange bag with writing. Could this be what I am

searching for? I ease closer to get a better look, my buddies no less than a wings length behind

me. We stop abruptly, as realization hits. There is a creature holding it, a little creature with sand

stuck on it. I turn to my buddies, trying to devise a plan to steal our food. It did not take long, so

we immediately took action. Uniformly rising in the air and swarming the creature with hopes of

it dropping the bag. It’s eyes opened wide and noises that I do not know so well left it’s odd
beak. It began to run and jump, falling in the sand and rising again. As I have said, there is no

harm intended, but if it is necessary then so be it. The attack is meant to be quick, but we did not

anticipate the creature using its odd wings to harm us. We try desperately to dodge each hit and

reach the food, but the attack lasted minutes. The orange bag ripped, and now orange sticks are

on the ground. ORANGE STICKS! We wanted food, not weird colored sticks. We see enough of

those at our house. Instead of leaving, we kept swarming, it has to have food, we see them every

day with food. The creature collapsed and tried to bury itself in sand. Two more creatures ran

quickly to us, with big colorful sticks in their hands. My buddies and I could not bare another

attack so we left. As we flew away I looked back and saw the little creature with its odd wings

on its face, covering its eyes. What have we done? Did we hurt it? Will it be okay? I will never

know, but now I feel a little bad. I could never fix it.

I remember when I was in the waters, and one big water came and crashed on me. The

feeling I had can not be explained, it just felt like I could not move. I thought of all my buddies

and knew that I may not see them again. Shells and water smothering me as I tried desperately to

fly out. Liquid came from my eyes, never has that happened before, but this time it did. It hurt

bad. Could that be how the little creature felt? I wish it understood me. I could say sorry for what

I did because I know how much it hurts. Unfortunately it will never forgive me, and will always

run from me, as I always fly from water. I did not mean any harm, none of us did, it just

happened. I wonder if I will see it again. Making this right will be my mission, I will search the

city for it, give it a gift and make it forgive me. The only problem is finding it, because I know it

will always run from me before I see it. I sometimes wish that day never happened. It was a

surprise to all of us. Next time, I will ask nicely. I promise.
