Chapter I

 The Problem and Its Background

Introduction

The researcher's study is all about students who are Lack of Financial Support. First of
all , what is lack of financial support? Lack of Financial Support is one of the biggest problem of
the students. The word "financial" means resources provided to are the project possible. Then the
definition of the word "Lack" means an insufficiency , shortage , absence of something that is
required.

The coverage of her study is about stating the most common reasons why some
students are lack of financial support and also to share her own experience about the topic that
she choose.

She decided to choose this topic because it's very interesting. It can increase her
knowledge as a student and it can help her to be a wiser person in the near future. She want to
know more about the topic that she choose. She wonder why many students stop from studying.
What are the reasons behind it?

Her experiences help her to realized that she need to conduct this study. Her parents
don't have enough salary that's why she didn't pass some requirements because she didn't have
enough money to buy some materials. It really affect her grades and performance in school.

Lack of financial support is appropriate to be a topic this time because students now
a days spend their money in some unimportant things they should know that their parents will
not support them forever.

It is worth to be a topic because It can help the students to understand "what is lack
of financial support?". Especially the students who didn't know how to spend their money wisely

Background of the Study

Lack of Financial Support is one of the biggest problem of the students. The word
"financial" means resources provided to make the project possible. Then the definition of the
word "Lack" means an insufficiency, shortage , absence of something that is required. Lack of
Financial Support is one of the biggest problem of the students. The word "financial" means
resources provided to make the project possible. Then the definition of the word "Lack" means
an insufficiency, shortage , absence of something that is required. Money is so important to all
people. It is the main financial resources of the students so they can graduate. Some students
didn't get any financial support from their parents or relatives . Like a simple photo copy of a
page of research costs money and so do going to and from activities that some classes may
require. It can affect their studies if they can't do or give some requirements to their teachers . It
can affect their academic performance or grades. There are other situation like their parents are
divorce they can't support their son properly . Other students are far away from their hometown
they can't communicate and receive some financial support from their parents. Other students
realized that Lack of financial support is one of the reasons why their other classmates stop from
studying. They can't go to school because they don't have money. When they have a group
project and requires them to contribute a huge amount the others students can't give they surely
ended up of zero or no grade. Some students spend their money in some unimportant things.
Because of lack of financial support other students involved in crimes just to have money which
can lead them to drop out to their schools . Students who also had part-time job were more likely
to think that financial problems were affecting their academic work in school. They failed to
graduate because the others didn't receive some support from scholarships or other financial aid.

Financial Support and it's impact on undergraduate student financial satisfaction,
according to Solis this study examined financial satisfaction among an undergraduate student
population. Logistic regression was used to determine the impact of financial support on
financial satisfaction. The analysis indicates that the probability for dissatisfaction among
undergraduate students declined when they received scholarship and grant support. These
findings highlight the need to provide more helpful strategies for undergraduate students to
manage and minimize education debt and improve their present and future financial situation.

Development and Validity of the parental support scale, according to Toews the
purpose of this study was to develop and validate the parental support scale student. A measure
examining students perceptions of how their parents supported them as they navigated the
college environment. A total of 1,351 students participated in the study . After conducting an
exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, the final scale consisted of 23 items and 4 factors :
a.)Emotional Support , b.) Lack of support, c.) Children as sources of support and d.) Financial
Support .
The four sub scales and the over all scale were related to measure of parental attachment and
college adjustment ,thus providing confirmation for the validity of the PSS-SV .

According to Felix , beyond the tuition fee and miscellaneous fees that come with
enrollment , students usually incur a variety of financial costs in the fulfillment of academic
requirements. Many expenses are expected parts of the educational process, whether involving
buying a textbook or paying for the printing costs of a short paper. However, certain instances
inherently incur much larger costs . For an output like thesis ,certain group of students may incur
large Costs from printing alone, in addition to the other expenses related to the research process
itself. Likewise, class projects ,group reports and excursions are among some of the academic
activities that students engage in which sometimes tend to incur large costs in the process.

Rustia said the respondents also indicated the largest amount they have had to pay for a
single project of other types . Most respondents cited a ranger of P4000 and above, followed by a
range of P4000 and above . Some of them cited experiences in relation to the costs of fulfilling
thesis . Students should know how to decide on how they will manage their expenses and
resources.

According to Gita, Senator Francis Escudero expressed dismay over the government's
failure to fully support the youth in their education, which resulted in taking their own
life. Escudero , former chairman of Senate Finance Committee said P47.4 billion was allocated
for 114 state universities and colleges (SUCs) under the 2016 national budget but it seemed that
the government was blind to address the students needs. On February 11,Jessiven Lagatic ,a
fourth year student from central Nicol State University , allegedly committed suicide after his
scholarships was taken away from him and was forced to pay his school fees amounting to P
7,000.
The case of Lagatic ,Escudero said was the "Fifth education crisis related suicide under the
administration" according to a statement by the league of Filipino students.

Support as Perceived by the Junior High School Students in Mariano Marcos Memorial High
School, for School Year 2018-2019. In which she used descriptive method and questionnaires as
instruments of distributing around delimitations which she handed out 100% of questionnaires
make a presentation and interpretation for the said topic and uses the result as a warning or guide
for all the students especially the students who lack of financial support.

Conclusion

their parents while 74% student believe that lack of financial can affect their performances and
grades in school. Lastly, Financial Problems, Family Problems, Single Parent, Lots of siblings,
small or not enough salary are the reasons why some students lack of financial support. But the
main reason why some students lack of financial support is because their parents don't have a
stable job.

The researcher would like to recommend to the students to save some money and avoid
buying some unimportant things in that way they can get some money when they really need it in
the future purposes. It will help them to be a wiser person in the near future. Parents should be
