THE BENEFITS OF THE TEACHING AID

Effective teaching and learning can be seen through the extent to which teachers
are producing effective teaching and learning (Kamarul Azmin & Ab Halim, 2007). A
creative teacher must have a wide range of knowledge and skills in teaching and
learning including linking the whole aspect to his or her teaching delivery. Teaching
aids play an important role in understanding the concepts in teaching other than to
attract pupilss. Teaching aids are all the tools used to convey teacher teaching to
pupilss. Teaching aids are also a tool to enhance pupils’ understanding.

Based on the teaching aids that have been built, there are several strengths or
advantages that will be highlighted. The use of color in teaching aid one of the
identified advantages. Pupils easily attracted with colourful things. When they learn to
recognize faces using this colourful teaching aid, they will be more motivated and
excited to be actively involved in the classroom activity. For example, in face parts
models the use of colors like yellow, green, and red is one aspect that encourages
pupils to learn to learn about parts of the faces easily. The use of these colors will
also make pupils interested and actively engaged in teaching and learning activities.
The use of colorful teaching aids also raise curiosity from the pupils to know more
about the topic. Indirectly, this will increase the pupils' interest in learning due to the
enthusiasm with the teaching aids brought by the teacher.

In addition, “My Face” kit are multisensory or VAKT (Visual, Audio, Kinesthetic
and Tactile) suitable for the pupils who have a their own learning style. They can use
their sense in learning and it help build pupils' understanding of reading and spelling
skills. For example, these teaching aids have words formed using strings that give
them a touch sensation. pupils can recognize the words as they spell and read it. The
multisensory method of teaching aids allow pupils to look at the words with their
eyes. Then, the pupilss speak out the words aloud with their mouths. Next, pupils
complete the parts of the face and label the name of the face parts by hand
movements. At the same time, pupils touch and feel the word physically by their
hands. This multisensory teaching aids provide pupilss with the opportunity to gain
knowledge through the use of various senses such as sensory seeing, sensory
touch, and hearing. Teaching aid that use a variety of senses will give more impact in
introducing a concept to pupils, especially the abstract one.
The use of "light bulb" controlled by teacher in this teaching aid can also attract
pupils and increase their attention span. Therefore, if the pupils successfully
completes the face parts and the name is correctly labeled the lamp will lights up. If
the lights are not turned on, they will try again to complete and label the parts of the
faces correctly. This will prompt them to try to complete and label the parts of faces
until the light turned on. This in turn increase their enthusiasm in learning, build
interest and enjoyment factor among pupils.

This teaching aids is a game-based and also give pupils a strong understanding
as it can influence pupils enjoyment and create meaningful learning. In addition,
portable teaching materials are always workable, convenient, and not too heavy or
bulky. The teaching aid are easy to operate and user friendly especially for pupils
with learning disabilities. Pupils will find it easy to use the teaching aids because of
the common topic and simple task to be done such as it only requires pupilss to
complete the parts of face to the right part and label them correctly. These teaching
aids are also user-friendly because the task of completing “My Face” structure with
the body body parts can be used on any topic. For example, my face can be used in
the topics My Body, Our Clothing, Color Where and My Feeling.
