5 THINGS YOU CAN DO DURING THE

NATIONAL LOCKDOWN
APRIL 15, 2020

POSTED IN: INSPIRATION
The lockdown is a necessary measure imposed by the government to help stop the
spread of the coronavirus. Why not make the most of it through the below activities?
On April 9, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the extension of the
national lockdown to April 30. It can be frustrating being confined to your house 24/7
but I believe it’s a necessary measure to stop the spread of the virus. Currently, South
Africa has 2415 people who tested positive and 27 people who died from the virus.
This is according to the South African official Covid-19 website. However, there are
things you can do during this time that you might have put on hold because of busy
schedules:
S p e n d q u a l i t y t i m e w i t h y o u r f a m i l y :  Honestly, when was the last time you actually
spent time with your loved ones at home? Being together in the same house does not
qualify spending time together. How is your sister doing? Go down memory lane with
your grandmother as she tells you her childhood. Get enough rest and importantly,
pray together as a family.
D o o n l i n e c o u r s e s :  This is the perfect time to brush up on your skills that you can add
to your CV. There are many affordable online courses, such as Educate24, that you
can visit and click your success to.
C o o k y o u r f a v o u r i t e m e a l s :  If you relied on takeaways or ready-made meals for a
while now is the time to dust off your apron and get cooking. These days recipes are
at your fingertips, as you can easily find them online and on social media. Tantalise
your family’s taste buds by making your and their favourite meals.

G e t i n t o u c h w i t h f r i e n d s v i r t u a l l y :  You don’t have to risk being tormented or even
arrested by law-enforcement officers driving to your loved ones to find out how they
are doing. Video call, Skype or inbox your friends and catch up as long as you can.
K e e p u p w i t h y o u r d o w n t i m e :  If you always get home tired, now is the perfect time to
binge watch your favourite TV shows and movies. Many entertainers are hosting
virtual parties that you can enjoy in the comfort of your home.
There’s so much more you can do now. Why not sort out your finances, spring clean
your wardrobe to give to the needy once the lockdown is lifted or volunteer to help the
needy now (if it’s allowed). Now is the time to pause and tick everything to be
grateful for, like your home, your health, the clothes on your back and even the food
in your fridge.
