family donated blue Advent Altar paraments and six acolyte
robes to the church. A new committee, the Fellowship
Committee, was started by Council to plan and prepare all
luncheons and dinners as needed. A fellowship breakfast
was started the second Sunday of each month following the
worship service. Earl and Nadine Cravener and family and
Boris and Kathleen Vuksanovich donated Pentecost and
Christmas banners in memory of Lawrence and Ruth
Cravener and Russell and Martha Cravener. Earl and Nadine
also donated a cross and candlesticks for use on the altar in
the Primary Sunday School Department in honor of their
grandchildren.
During Pastor Schaefer’s pastorate, a new pictorial
directory was published and dedicated to George McVay, a
fellow parishioner who was very active in the church, and
who passed away in the year 2000. We purchased the ‘With
One Voice’ hymnal supplement, two new commercial
kitchen stoves, and a new steel double basement door was
installed. The Joint Parish office was moved into our upstairs
Sunday School room. A new cross and candlesticks were
given by Bernice Rupp in memory of her husband Russell
J. Rupp. Little Luthers, a youth ministry for children in
Grades 1 through 6, was reactivated. The following
memorials were given in 2003: a white banner in memory
of Harvey Stivason by his son Roger; a superfrontal for the
altar by Margaret Schall and Irene Shaffer in memory of
their parents, Frank and Nellie Sheasley; a new Paschal
candle by Wanda Moore in memory of her husband Robert
Moore.
