Andrea Hirata was born in Gantung, East Belitung, Bangka Belitung, October 24, 1967; 52 years old, is a

novelist who has revolutionized Indonesian literature. He is from Belitung Island, Bangka Belitung
province.Andrea Hirata was the first winner of the 2013 New York Book Festival literary award, for The
Rainbow Troops, the American edition of Laskar Pelangi, publisher Farrar, Straus & Giroux, New York,
general fiction category, and the first winner of the 2013 Buchawards, Germany, for Die Regenbogen
Truppe, Laskar Pelangi German edition, publisher of the Hanser Berlin. He also won the election of a
short story in America's leading literary magazine, Washington Square Review, University of New York,
the winter / spring 2011 edition for a short story published by Dry Season. In 2015 he was awarded the
Honoris Causa Doctorate degree in literature by the University of Warwick, UK and in 2017 received a

The uniqueness of Andrea Hirata's work is in terms of writing, in his writings he is able to translate
