Summary of The Properties Of Concrete: Concrete Compressive Strength.

AS 1020 is used as the prime means of determining the quality of the

compressive strength of a standard concrete cylinder, the concrete needs to

be prepared and cured for 28 days. This has the advantage of simplicity, but

it can’t be assumed that, because a series of test show high strengths, the

concrete is a good and durable one. To produce a good concrete, the

compressive cylinder test may be used as the basis for strength design of

structural members and sections. The variability of test results means that

statistical methods must be applied in order to obtain a measure of the

concrete for design purposes. Naturally, such test does not show exactly the

strength of concrete which exists in any part of the structure.
