Analyzing Data Assignment

The class average for this set of data is 67%. While some students are grasping the
understanding of the content, almost just as many are not. For example, some students are answering
100% of the questions correctly while other students are only answering about 40% of the answers
correctly. Clearly, the topic area needs some revision to improve students’ grades because only two
students reviewed A’s on this while 6 students earned a failing grade.

Juan is a student that got a 100% on this mathematics test. He clearly has a great understanding
of addition, subtraction, and division. Cody is another student that did well on this test (93%). He
answered all the questions correctly in subtraction and division and only missed one in addition.
Another student that scored well on this test is Hugh (80%). He aced all his addition questions and only
missed one subtraction question. He did miss a couple division questions, so he should practice division
problems to improve his grade.

The lowest scored grade was by Luke (40%). He missed 3 questions in all three subject topics
(addition, subtraction, and division). He should work on all three topics to improve his grade. Another
student that scored poorly is Nathan (67%). He answered more addition problems correctly then
subtraction and division; so, addition is clearly his strength. Another student that needs improvement is
Sarah (53%). She also scored well on the addition problems opposed to division and subtraction
problems. Improving these two skills will help Sarah obtain a better grade on this mathematics test.
