Met Church Tulsa

Covid-19 Update

Response to Reopening

As the city of Tulsa and the state of Oklahoma prepare to lift various safety precautions in the
coming days, we must center ourselves in the lessons we have learned over the last several
weeks of this pandemic.

In these weeks we have learned so much about ourselves and about our capacity for continued
worship and connection in the midst of adversity. As a community of believers, we know that
the Spirit of the Lord is with us wherever we are gathered in sincere and earnest worship.

As the Mayor mentioned in a recent press conference, the data from a variety of outlets;
including the CDC, White House Task Force and the Tulsa Health Department, indicate that we
are not in the Coronavirus clear. The adjustment of pastoring a church remotely, while not
ideal, has been essential to protect the safety of the very people we serve. The Met Church
cares about our community and remains mindful of the potential health risks involved with
gathering large groups. We will take the lessons we have learned regarding what it means to
truly be a congregation and lead with prudence and care in our decision to reopen our doors.

We consider your safety our highest priority. Toward that end we will continue with
on-line only worship services at least through June 1, 2020. As we approach that
date, we will continue to analyze the data not the date on the calendar to inform our decisions
around when and how to return to in-person worship.

We remain mindful that our physical distance doesn’t prohibit us from gathering in the mighty,
merciful, and miraculous name of Jesus Christ.

Prayerfully submitted,

Ray A. Owens, Ph.D. Met Church Board of Trustees
