LETTER TO A PARENT 2

Dear friend;

Pregnancy is a fascinating journey that brings about new realizations and understandings.

What makes it amazing is the fact that in the end, you will hold your bundle of joy in your arms.

You might feel uncomfortable at times, and become moody at other times. Your belly may itch

and develop stretch marks, and you may have a greater urge to pee. You might even panic in the

labor room after hearing the screams of fellow mothers. At times, you may worry that something

might go wrong and have trouble relaxing. At other times, you may wonder what kind of mum

you will be. Will you be a good mum? Will you know how to change diapers correctly? Will you

be able to spend those first sleepless nights with your crying baby? Will the baby come out

healthy? I know you might be distressed by all these questions. I want to assure you that

everything will be fine. You will manage those first nine months, you will get a healthy baby,

and you will be a great parent to your kid.

Some tips might help you ease the journey. First of all, I want you to relax as much as

you can. Remember that you will not have time to rest as much as you would like after the baby

is born. Stop worrying about the baby, he/ she will be just fine. I want you to take good care of

yourself before and after delivery. You might be so worried about the whole pregnancy journey

and forget to take care of yourself. Ignoring you, in this case, will worsen the entire situation. Fix

yourself and be ready for motherhood in the best way you can. You should mainly focus you and

the baby at this point.

Do not forget to check and control what you eat. In the first months of pregnancy, you

may experience morning sickness, which may render you unable to eat certain foods. Just enjoy

the moment and eat the foods that you can take. Also, eat small portions of food across the day to

avoid vomiting. Go for antenatal vitamins as early as possible to ensure that the baby growing in

there is healthy. on Drink as much water as you can since it will assist in digestion and also

relieve nauseous symptoms. Also, ditch your high heel shoes and buy flat shoes to ease your

movements and also avoid falls. Do this before the baby arrives since you will not get time to

shop after delivery.

Be vigilant about your body, too; take care of your skin and bathe twice a day. Wear that

sunscreen and moisturizer every day while going to work. Trust me; you will not put on makeup

for some time after the baby arrives, thus ensure that you practice self-care activities now. Also,

listen to what family members and friends tell you. Especially, listen for advice from mothers

who have given birth because you will need to use their help one of these days. Have you already

bought magazines and books concerning pregnancy and birth? If you have not, this is the best

time to do this. However, remember that this is just someone's opinion, so chose the good advice

and ignore the bad one.

Lastly, we are not yet done with your worry and anxiety. This worry just shows that you

desperately need to do the right thing and give your baby the best. I wish to assure you that

everything will be all right. You will have a smooth pregnancy and delivery and get to hold your

baby and see them grow. I want to assure you this; you will love your baby more than anything

else in this world. That love will give you a new perspective and focus in life and also guide you

into making the right decisions.
