HOMOGENEOUS REACTORS

CHEMICAL REACTORS

What a chemical reactor is?

A chemical reactor is a processing unit designed to produce chemical reactions inside. This
machine is constituted by a closed container, which has input and output lines for chemical
reactants (substances) and this is handled by a control algorithm.

Reactors classification
There are various forms of classification:
According to the operation mode
 Continuous reactors: these systems work continuously
 Discontinuous reactors: these systems work by workloads

According to the type of internal flow

 Ideal reactors: these reactors operate in steady state
 Non-ideal reactors: they consider the flow pattern, the existence of dead
zones inside the reactor where the material does not circulate, they also
consider a more complex fluid dynamics

According to the mixture phases

 Homogeneous reactors: these have a single pase
 Heterogeneous reactors: these have several phases
