Pax Romania (Latin for ROMAN PEACE) was a long period of relative peace and stability experienced by the Roman Empire between the accession of CAESAR AUGUSTUS, the founder of the roman principate and the death of MARCUS AURELIUS, last of good emperors. STARTING PERIOD Going from 27 BC to 180 CE, Pax Romania began when OCTAVIAN (Augustus) became the emperor of the Roman Empire. HOW MANY YEARS DID IT LAST AND WHY? It lasts approximately 200 years because: -people had faith in their emperors -people had respect toward the emperors -the emperor sensitized people about the benefit of being in peace WHEN DID IT ENDED? Pax Romania ended because of the fact that military power, despite being the cornerstone of the roman civilization, was not inherently tied with the power of the emperor.
