It is my great pleasure to offer my endorsement of Mychala Sifida in this letter of
recommendation. Mychala completed her prosem and student teaching in my first-grade classroom. During her time in my classroom, I saw her display immeasurable growth in becoming an excellent educator. I thoroughly enjoyed having Mychala in my classroom and strongly believe that she is an outstanding educator and will make an excellent addition to any faculty. During her time at our school, Mychala consistently displayed a high level of professionalism. Mychala was prompt to class and was always well prepared. Mychala’s lesson plans were consistently submitted in a timely fashion and were well developed. When the occasion arose, Mychala showed an ability to be flexible and to adjust quickly to changing situations. Mychala’s reliability made for a seamless and rapid transfer of classroom responsibilities. Mychala displayed good judgment and often took the initiative in supporting classroom instruction. While teaching, it was clear that Mychala had a strong understanding of the content being taught. It was also clear that Mychala had a well developed instructional path that led to a well stated and well thought out instructional goal. Mychala was able to quickly identify when students were struggling and was able to adjust accordingly. Mychala showed an ability to effectively instruct in whole group, small group, and individual settings. Mychala employed several different instructional techniques that were successful such as using manipulatives and technology. Mychala’s instruction was also engaging and interesting. Mychala was able to build and establish a very strong rapport with the students based on mutual respect and admiration. Mychala held the students to high expectations and worked hard to support the students in meeting classroom goals. It was clear from the start that Mychala was determined to develop a student-centered classroom where each of the student’s specific learning needs were met. While exuding confidence, Mychala was able to quickly establish a set of classroom expectations for behavior which was effective in maintaining a positive learning environment. Through the use of positive reinforcement, Mychala highlighted the students showing favorable behaviors while encouraging the other students to do the same. By being consistent with her behavior expectations, Mychala was able to gracefully and effectively handle behavior management in the classroom. In conclusion, I strongly endorse Mychala in her future endeavors as an Elementary Teacher.
