To Whom It May Concern:

I have known and worked with Blake Schow for about 2 years. He is a student at the Northern Utah
Academy of Math Engineering and Science (NUAMES), a regional state-funded early-college charter
school. Students at this school typically engage not only in the regular high school curriculum, but also
college courses made available through Weber State University and Utah State University.

Blake was a student in my Secondary Math III class and my rigorous CE Math 1050 (College Algebra) and
CE Math 1060 (Trigonometry) courses. Throughout, he maintained an A average. He is a good student and
has taken a number of college classes which will allow him to graduate with his Associates degree while yet
a high school student. His emphasis seems to be in engineering, which is a focus of this school.

Blake is an Eagle Scout and has been involved in service and leadership positions. He has worked on the
Clinton City Youth Council, which executed service projects throughout the city. Blake was also involved
in a supervisory capacity at his place of employment during the summer months. He was awarded the
President’s Volunteer Service Award and the President’s Education Award for his service and kindness.

I have known Blake as a fun-loving individual, but a dedicated student. He takes his academic endeavors
seriously and devotes the time and effort needed to accomplish the tasks at hand. Blake is a fine young man
and with his determination and drive, will go far. I would recommend him as a person worthy of
scholarship notice.
