People are losing the value of face-to-face communication.
What impact (positive or negative) might this have on human
relationships? A recent study has shown that a majority of population more rarely communicate with other people face-to-face. The age of technology has influenced us so much, that most people do not even imagine their lives without social media and the internet, so it is no wonder why so many people are more likely to interact with others remotely. However, is that interaction really a problem? Many people believe, that having a social interactions on internet can be advantageous for many reasons. First of all, by using social websites for comunication people not only do tend to establish new relationships with acquaintances, but also maintain close relationships with friends or family that lives far away. Consequently, people stay closer because they have the opportunity to communicate more often. Furthermore, using technologies for communnication has given an opportunity for those, who are unable to connect with people and work or study due to some circumstances such as self isolation in pandemics or health problems. As a result, technologies allow people from all over the world to connect, meet, learn, and grow together over a digital medium in any occurrence. Nevertheless, others suggest, that drawbacks of online relationships outweights the benefits. To begin with, virtual distance between people has defined natural human interaction. For instance, people are losing their social skills due to being increasingly isolated from others. The social distance and lack of intimacy can also lead to some severe mental problems such as depresion or anxiety, making it difficult to talk with others freely and honestly. All things considered, despite all of the advantages on human -to- machine interactions based relationships can offer, eye -to -eye conversation cannot be replaced by technologies and people still need pshysical closure. In my opinion, communicating with others with the help of technology is not harmful as long as a balance is maintained with live communication.
