ANSWER:
This study is all about the effects of smoking ban which is under the RA 9211 also known as
Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003 in the Philippine economy base on the perceptions of local
citizens. Aside from the effects of the said law, the researchers also aim to identify which fields
will most likely be affected.

2.WHAT IS YOUR MOTIVATION FOR THIS STUDY?

ANSWER:
The researchers' motivation to conduct this study are the arising problems in our society regarding
the implementation of smoking ban. One of those problems is the issue regarding the future state
of the tobacco industry in the Philippines which provides a source of income to numerous farmers
and factory workers.

3.HOW WILL THIS STUDY CONTRIBUTE TO THE BODY OF KNOWLEDGE?

ANSWER:
This study contains a topic that is new. Related studies about smoking bans here in the Philippines
is minimal on number since researchers does not give miach attention to this topic. If published,
the findings that will be acquired in this study will be a good source of information also, it can
motivate other researchers to conduct studies related to this topic to prove and contrast it's
findings.

ANSWER:
In general, this study will be significant to the ones whoa are interested with economy and the
future researchers since it contains facts and valid data about the smoking ban's economic effects
in the Philippines.

If this study is to be completed, it will give a clear results if smoking ban really affects the

ANSWER:
The researchers will acquire results through dessiminating questionnaires. The target respondents
Is about 400 residents of Southville-VI out of it's 12,000 estimated population. The sample size
was acquired by using the Slovine's Formula(correct it if it's wrong). The researchers will also use
Frequency, percentage and weighted mean in order to statistically treat the future results.

ANSWER:
The researchers use Slovine's formula to acquire the proper number of respondents to be sampled.
This method was common with other studies that needs to survey a big number of population.
Meanwhile, the frequency and percentage will enable the researchers to break down the results of
the sampling. It will show which indicators got the highest and lowest points. Lastly, the
researchers will use weighted mean in order to determine the score of each indicators.

This study aims to acquire the data about the effects of smoking ban in the Philippine economy. Its
future results might lead other economists to study the topic further in order to acquire solid
results and to develop a action plans for the problems that will emerge.

This study basically focuses in the economic state of the Philippines. It coins the concerns related
to the tobacco industry and cigarette companies. The effects of smoking ban will be determined in
this study.

11.WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE IF YOU WERE TO CONDUCT THE STUDY AGAIN?
ANSWER:
If the researcher will be given a chance to conduct this study again, respondents will be the
economists and tobacco farmers if possible. Aside from that, there will be no more other changes
unless if the respected panelists and other professionals will give their humble insights for
revisions.

The researchers will use research made questionnaires and dessiminate them to the target
respondents. The questionnaire use the Likert scale which measures the perception of the
respondents.

The researchers obtained facts and data from past studies, journals, and online articles that tackles
the smoking ban.

ANSWER:
The researchers used Social Cognitive Theory as basis for this research. This theory states that an
individual changes behavior based on its adaptation to his/her surroundings. For example, if a
regulation against smoking was implemented, the smokers will lessen the use of cigarettes.

17.HOW DID YOU FORMULATE YOUR STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM?

ANSWER:
In order to formulate the statements of the problem, the researchers searched in the possible
problems that may arise due to smoking ban. Then the researchers created the problems based on
the title. To be specific, the researchers want to focus in the economy and the industry of tobacco
by ovatining perceptions from local citizens.

will sample residents without specific profiles. The study will only be based on the opinions of the

RESEARCH DESIGN
- The researchers will use the descriptive method of research in which the use of previous facts

RESPONDENTS OF THE STUDY
- The respondents of this stuff will be the selected residents of Southville-VI, Brgy. Kay-Anlog,
Calamba City, Laguna. There will be 300 hundred respondents which is about 3.34% of the town's
estimated population of 12,000 individuals. The respondents will be selected without specific
characteristics or profile. Also, the researchers will entertain volunteer respondents.

RESEARCH LOCALE
- The study will take place at Southville-VI, Brgy. Kay-Anlog, Calamba City, Laguna. The town
has an estimated population of 12,000 individuals. The place is a relocation and housing project
spearheaded by the National Housing Authority to provide housing for the Calamba City's
residents and other neighboring cities.

SAMPLING METHOD(JANTZEN)
- The researchers will make use of a research made questionnaire to acquire data. The results will
be treated using the Likert scale where the indicators will be rated with the scale of 4 as Strongly
Agree, 3 as Agree, 2 as Disagree and 1 as Strongly Disagree.
