A Letter to Shakespeare

April 23, 2019 , Bucharest

Dear William Shakespeare,

I am writing to you from the 21st century.I know you have been gone for the past 400
years, but your works still resonate with people today as they did in your time.

I am a big fan of your plays, sonnets and I have so many questions to ask you about.

How did you come up with these timeless stories, stories that have inspired other tales,
stories that have become a part of the literature? Did you know that you were going to
leave such a significant mark on the world? Or were you, perhaps, merely writing for
your own pleasure and amusement? Or to express all your own emotions in the most
imaginative of ways?

Thank you for bringing your stories to the world. Whether they were about fairies, kings
and queens, gods and goddesses, magic, mystery, romance, comedy, or tragedy; the
stories you wrote, and the characters you created are found in all types of people. I
think that is why so many of your plays have been reproduced. The plays were saved
and were able to be enjoyed from then on.

People are now going to the cinema more than they go to the theatre as the theatre is
seen as old fashioned now. However you will be pleased to know that your plays are
being broadcasted on TV and cinema too. They love the humour of Midsummer Night’s
Dream and cannot get enough of the romance of Romeo and Juliet. They enjoy these
plays as they have incidents which are still relevant to us know

I truly believe that you are not only the best writer of English literature, but the best
writer of all times. Your work will be remembered by the world.

With deep appreciation,

Lupu Isabelle
