HyperWorks 2017: Model Build and Assembly

Webinar Questions & Answers

Are PLM system integrations available out of the box? Any customization involved?

Yes, we support Teamcenter and Windchill out of the box via direct integration with
HW Connect. We also support indirect integration via neutral files such as the
Teamcenter PLMXML, and can also parse the Part hierarchy from CAD files such as
JT assemblies.

How does Altair ConnectMe work if we don't have permission for installing software
and updates?

Altair Connect can still inform you that there would be newer versions available. We
don't want to bypass system departments, but it can help with making information
available with the users. It also gives you access to the latest Altair News in the app.

Is there a simple tutorial about assembly management in the online documentation?

Yes, look for HyperMesh tutorial HM-3440 in the online documentation. It covers the
workflow as shown in today's webinar with using the same basic front rail assembly.

Will the solidThinking modules be part of the full HyperWorks installation in 2017 or
will it be separate like in V14?

Most solidThinking products require a separate download from Altair Connect but
are included in our HyperWorks Unit (HWU) system.

How do you integrate CATIA part structure, material data, thickness data? Is it
through STEP file only?

Our Import BOM supports importing CATIA Assemblies (*.CATProduct). The

material & thickness data inside the CATIA file can be mapped to the PDM Metadata
attributes on the Parts via simple customization.
