Business Project

Lesson Plan for Economics

OVERVIEW & PURPOSE


Students will work either alone or with a partner to create a business. They
will find a location, figure out the basic costs for their goods, to pay for
employees, and to get the proper insurances. This project will help as we go
through units covering the ways that different types of businesses run.

OBJECTIVES
1. By the end of this project students will be able to identify the different
costs and materials that go into owning a business

MATERIALS NEEDED
1. Presentation making software
2. Sources for a location and costs for starting a business

VERIFICATION
1. Identify what your business is. Are you working with a partner? Where
is your business located?
2. Identify all costs involved in the legal process. This includes utilities,
rent cost, insurance, and employees.
3. Identify all other costs, materials, advertisements. Also produce a
mock profit and revenue.
4. Present to the class your business proposal, trying to convince
everyone that your business has the best odds of success.

ACTIVITY
Presentations to the class and discussion about pros and cons of each
business. Is one business more prepared? Do you think a business as a
partnership or a business as a sole proprietor is better?
