********************************** RECOMMENDATION LETTER********************************

1. What is your relationship to the applicant? When and how did you first meet this person?
I am one of Allison’s close high school friends. We met by playing on the same volleyball team, and were later involved in our school’s
leadership program together. We became very close, playing music together, going on road trips and hiking. She remains one of my best
friends even though we went to college in different states because she is so good at maintaining friendships.
2. How reliable is s/he in meeting commitments?
Allison is one of the more reliable people that I know. If she promised to do some act of service for you, she will be there. If there is any
reason that she cancels a social commitment, she has a good reason and will usually tell you the day before, and tries to reschedule at
the same time.
3. How sociable is this person upon meeting people for the first time? What is her/his attitude toward new experiences?
Allison loves new experiences! It’s why she is traveling to so many countries on the Watson Grant! She’s eager to learn about people’s
cultures and any hear any personal stories. She’s naturally curious, and also very good listener. She doesn’t like to be the talkative one in a
relationship; she prefers to listen and learn. Though quiet, she’s intensely focused in conversation, so she’s still very engaging.
4. Under what circumstances is s/he helpful as a house guest?
I’ve hosted her many times - even if my apartment is messy, she will keep her area clean and organized. She is considerate of other
people’s sleeping schedules, and happy to clean-up/participate in any maintenance chores (unless you firmly tell her not to). I also trust her
to adapt to all kinds of food, and be excited to cook and share her own favorite meals with families. She’s just a respectful guest.
5. How does s/he handle disagreements?
If a family has a disagreement with her, she’ll try to change her habits right away (so long as it doesn’t become morally compromising). She’s a
good listener, and really takes requests to heart. If she has a problem with a host, she will probably only mention it if it’s impacting her ability to
sleep, eat, or do her work for her Watson Grant. Should a family be having a disagreement around her, then she’ll try to give them privacy.
6. What other information should we consider in evaluating her/his application?
She’s quieter, but I think she thrives around extroverts and other talkative people. It takes a little time for her to open up, but then she becomes a
real jokester, mostly employing self-demeaning humor. She’s an ideal candidate for a family that enjoys sharing a lot!

7. Do you have any hesitation about recommending the applicant as a Servas Traveler? If “yes,” please explain in detail on a separate
piece of paper.
Absolutely not!
