I chose this journal because this journal has a decisive position in my field, and

this journal studies music, and music education, and music teaching. Articles in this

journal are academic papers about music, and their main articles are about music

instruction and teaching of child and musical skills (SAGE Journals, n.d.). Therefore,

this journal’s purpose studies peer-reviewed research to music teaching and learning,

and it also includes various aspects of music pedagogy, history, and philosophy, and

addresses vocal, instrumental, and general music at all levels, from early childhood

through adult (SAGE Journals, n.d.). In 2020, their table of contents are about music

teaching (SAGE Journals, n.d.). For example, The names of these two articles were

“Preparedness of Instrumental Music Major Teaching Elementary General Music”,

and “The Effect of jazz Improvisation Instruction on Measures of Executive Function

in Middle School Band Students”, and these two articles’ purpose are to show how

music affects students (SAGE Journals, n.d.). However, in 2016, their table of
contents had some changes (SAGE Journals, n.d.). For example, the title of an article

in this journal in 2016 is that current and former music teachers’ perceptions a year

after moving to a different school or leaving the classroom (SAGE Journals, n.d.).

However, articles’ title in this journal about professor’s teaching. Thus, their change

from 2016 to 2020 changed from the impact of music on students on the teaching

method of teachers' music (SAGE Journals, n.d.). I think that because this is a journal

about music, and the journal also offers very professional information about music

professor’s teaching, and music theory. Thus, I think that this journal’s audience can

be music professors, children, and students studying music, or people interested in

music, because they could read this article for their own field.

This journal’s impact number is 0.820 (SAGE Journals, n.d.). Even though this

number was very small compared to other majors, and this number was very large,

because in my field, the high impact number was 1.364, and the low impact number

was 0.100, and this journal’s impact number was ranked second (SCIMAGO

INSITUTIONS RANKINGS, n.d.). Therefore, his means that this journal plays a very

important role in my field. Thus, I know that the research trends and development

direction of music in the recent years because I found information. Thus, the journal

changed were from the method of performance and the theory of music and the

influence of music on students to the study of professor's teaching methods, and these

were all important studies for people. Nowadays professor’s teaching methods are

very important for students, Therefore, I understand that this journal advocates an

education that has a music education plan and importance for students, and it is
committed to ensuring that students get a qualified music educator method and

provide an excellent comprehensive education for all students.
