2.3 ( A ) CONTROLS.

1 ) Half the sentence of each type- negative and positive -were so framed that TRUE
was the correct response, This was done to prevent the development of a set of
response in a certain way ( TRUE – TRUE—TRUE—FALSE—FALSE –FALSE )

2 ) Four counterbalanced sets of cards were prepared in such a way that each
representation of geometrical figures was paired with each type sentence ( Positive –
True, Positive –False, Negative –True Negative –False ) across four sets

3 ) Thus there were 20 sentences , out of which 10 were positive sentences and 10
were negative sen tences.

4 ) The four types of cards were presented in random order.
