THE ROLE OF INTERNATIONAL SECURITY SYSTEMS IN PREVENTION

OF ORGANIZED CRIME
Bozidar Milanski, PhD., Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia

Abstract

Organized crime as a newer social and security phenomenon today is one of the most
dangerous security threats to the economic, social, and political stability and security of the state
at the national level, globally and for the entire international community. With the changes that
occurred in the international system with the end of the Cold War, there is a new understanding
of peace and security. However, security, regardless of the segment in question - individual,
national or international, is still one of the urgent problems of the international community. The
system of collective security aims to prevent the war by responding to any act of aggression or a
threat to peace among members. In order to be an efficient system of this kind, all countries in
the region or in the world must be integrated into it, and attention should be directed to the inner
aspect of their actions.
The international dimension of organized crime alarmed the need for a faster, more
efficient exchange of information with other countries on a bilateral basis as well as with
European agencies. In this regard, the cooperation of States with INTERPOL, EUROPOL,
FRONTEX and EUROJUST is of crucial importance.
