WEEKLY JOURNALS

This is where you think about your FMP learning journey and development.
Don’t simply describe what you did - consider what you have learnt and how this has benefitted
your project. What do you need to improve?

THIS IS JUST GUIDANCE THAT YOU NEED TO ADAPT TO YOUR OWN PROJECT. YOU HAVE
CREATED YOUR OWN PRODUCTION SCHEDULES AND YOUR WEEKLY BLOGS SHOULD
REFELCT THAT.

THESE QUESTIONS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IN THE WEEKS YOU COMPLETED THEM. DO

NOT JUST SUBMIT THIS FORM FILLED IN FOR YOUR WEEKLY BLOGS. THERE SHOULD BE
11 WEEKLY BLOG ENTRIES (INCLUDING EASTER).

Week Four - Planning

PLANNING

What did you learn from your The planning that i did for my animation helped me learn
planning this week? more about the story I wanted to tell through the animation
from the script and the storyboard in which I created. This
helped me visually create the animation in my mind and also
helped me No what was achievable and what was
unrealistic. I also learned through doing the location recess
what problems I might face when using these certain areas
slash locations. I felt that by doing the planning for the
animation it helped me be more organised and have a plan
in how 2 create the animation and in what stages to do it.

What issues did you encounter and I think where i had the most issues was when I was writing
how did you overcome them? the script and making the storyboard as I was still creating
the story as i did this, I knew that the story had to be
interesting and had to relate to the moral of the story and
also make the audience think it's believable, it was hard to
find the right balance from it being believable An unrealistic.
I feel as though when I was writing the script I took out
different parts unadded new ones, by doing the storyboard
first it helped me write the script as i had a visual
representation to go off of and a basic storyline.

How did you ensure that your For my storyboard to be completed to the highest standard i
storyboards were completed to a made sure that the drawings I created made a good
high standard? representation of the image that I wanted to create for that
seam or that shot in the animation, I felt it important to
make it clear which characters were being used in each shot
by the drawing instead of using stickman as i wouldn't have
been able to tell which characters were in each scene.
underneath each box of the storyboard I wrote a brief
paragraph in what was happening in each scene, which
camera angles are being used and what characters were
being used by having a combination of each of these it made
it clear when looking at the storyboard I'm telling the story
and also it made it useful when it Came to the script writing
as i had a clear understanding of what was happening in
each scene.

How has your planning I think because I chose to do animation it's very easy to
developed/changed during the become unrealistic when creating storyboards and scripts,
planning stage? stop motion animation is such a time consuming process and
it is very easy to become unrealistic with your ideas And I
think that I did become unrealistic with my ideas in my script
and storyboard but after looking back at them I worked out
what I could take out and what to keep in to make The story
good and understandable for the audience boat also
achievable with the time frame in which I have to shoot my
animation. I think one of the hardest process is for me when
designing the story was weather to have verbal common
tree in it for spoken language or to have un verbal. I knew
that if i used verbal then that would be a harder task when it
comes to lip synching the puppets too the voices which are
pre-recorded. So in conclusion I decided to use a mix of both
but have mainly nonverbal as I thought this would be easier
and more achievable for my time frame but I felt it important
to use a small amount of verbal commentary in it.

How have you ensured your I have ensured they are high standard because I think my
script/shooting script is of a high main goal is to make the animation/ script and storyboard
detailed standard? achievable as possible, I think once that i had written my
script it was then easier to go to the shooting script and
work out what parts and what scenes to shoot at at different
times but using a combination of both it helped me work
how what is achievable and what isn't.

How well have you managed and Because I have decided to do stop motion animation I will be
organised your cast and crew to be creating puppets out of clay, these puppets will be used in
in available when you need them? place of actors. Also because I have decided to use mostly
non verbal in my animation this makes it easier in terms of
not needing voice actors for long periods of time however for
when I do need to use voice actors I will have to find people
to pre record their voices and send them to me due to the
circumstances that are currently happening, but I will
resolve this issue when it occurs.

Are you on track for the week? If I am mostly on track however I need to go back to my LO1
not, how far behind are you? and make minor changes too a couple of things such as the
shooting script and the proposal.

What work do you need to complete

outside of lessons to stay on track?

Planning & Production

● ‘effective planning, organisation’ – your FMP Workbook will explain what you need to do
in the next few weeks to make sure all of your planning is completed, and also how this will
help you
● ‘efficient production against timescales’ – your FMP Proposal will clearly identify how
you intend to create your project before the deadline in May
● ‘commitment & subject engagement’ – all of the above referred to in your daily/weekly
reflections
