I recently came upon your spring marketing/social media internship in Washington D.C. on
Careers4Terps. I am a freshman marketing major at University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of
Business. My interest in social media and eagerness to learn new skills has prompted me to apply for
this opportunity.

As you can see from my resume, my work experience last summer at Crazy 8 has enabled me to
develop my communication skills and learned how to entice others to sell a product. These are skills
that I believe would beneficial in an internship position like this one. I also believe that I am taking
many related courses in my College Park Scholars program, Public Leadership, that provides a strong
foundation for this type of industry. In my Public Leadership program, I am currently learning about
non-profit organizations and what qualifications donors are looking for in a non-profit. These skills
along with my interests to help others that have been affected by disasters are the reason an internship
at Planet Ready would become a passion of mine.

I would love to gain experience in the non-profit industry and learn more about how social media
differs with this type of target market. Due to my strong communication skills and knowledge about
successful non-profits, I know that I would be a good fit to the work environment at Planet Ready.
