Ejs Plate Tectonics
Ejs Plate Tectonics
1. What evidence do scientists have that large plates of land are moving?
Maybe because of glaciers or how animals got separated from the mainland.
An ancient type of Fern separated to 5 continents-all fern not being able to swim and replant
themselves. The same type of fossil was found in many places such as Antarctica and India.
Evidence that plates of land are moving include mountains, volcanoes, earthquakes, and satellite
images.
There are many Major Plates such as The African Plate, The Eurasian Plate, The Antarctic Plate, and The
Arabian Plate.
3. What are some ways that tectonic plates can interact with each other?
A couple ways they can interact with one another are They can move toward one another or converge.
They can move away from each other or slide right past one another.
The denser tectonic plate when two plates collide, that dense plate sinks and goes underwater. An
example would be an oceanic Plate versus the continental plate and sense the continental plate is less
dense, it stays on top.
Mountains, Volcanoes and valleys can be markers to where we find fault lines.
5. How does the theory of plate tectonics relate to mountains and volcanoes?
Probably because mountains and volcanoes could be good landmarks to indicate something.
The Plate that get’s pushed up makes high peaks on mountains, and the lower side creates pressure,
causing explosions.
The movement of tectonic plates causes many of the landforms. The subduction zone under Washington
causes our volcanoes and mountains.
