Dear Sir/Madam:
1am pleased to write this letter of recommendation in support of Ms.Nicole Arreaga. I have
known Ms. Arreaga since January 2020, as her Population Health and Community Nursing
theory and clinical instructor. Ms. Arreaga is one of the kindest most unassuming individuals that
Thave ever had the privilege of working with. Her quiet and steady demeanor brings a sense of
calm in otherwise stressful situations. One example is during a community outreach at a local
library in south Tucson, Ms. Arreaga and her team members had planned a formal education
project about mental health and anxiety reducing strategies. Ten minutes into the teaching
it became clear the strategy of formally teaching in groups about mental health was not
working. Ms. Arreaga, who is fluent in the Spanish language and culture, worked with the team
members and they changed the strategy to an informal “conversation about stress and what can
be done” with two two-member teams talking with community members one-on-one. This
problem identification and change in approach helped the students to reach people who were
‘more comfortable informally talking about “stress” rather than learning about “mental health.”
Ms. Arreaga spent three days working along-side the schoo! nurse at Pueblo Magnet High
Schoo! meeting the needs of the teen population at this large, mostly Hispanic, school in south
Tucson, Ms. Arreaga and her team mates also conducted a community assessment, identified
strengths and stressors, developed a community nursing diagnosis, set goals and objectives and
completed the nursing process through the intervention at the local public library, The end result
was a comprehensive assessment and health education intervention report formally presented to
public health nurses at the Theresa Lee Public Health Office and a community profile of the
neighborhood submitted to the Pima County Health Department.
Ms. Arreaga has excelled at the College of Nursing, receiving the Wildeat Excellence
Scholarship Award, Academic Distinction, and on the Dean’s List with Distinction. She is a
dependable, flexible, and adaptable young woman of integrity and maturity. I highly recommend
Ms. Arreaga; I know she will be an asset to your organization and the profession of nursing,
Sincerely,
yi Laval
