BAMBUCO Perhags te most representative musical form of Colombian Andean folklore, the 6ambuco can be sung or danced and is noted for its Fyric qualities. ‘Written in 6/8 meter, the major characteristic of the bambuco 1s the bass fine which consists of a quarter rest followed by two quarter notes (creating an ‘off the beat” syncopated ‘feel in triple meter) over which the melody utilizing eighth notes creates a contrasting ‘on the beat’ feel in duple ‘meter which results in a singular mixture of Binary and ternary accentuations within the measure. PORRO The porro hails from the Pacific Coast of Colombia and is very traditional to the afrocolombian culture of that area. ‘Written in 4/4 meter, the porro utilizes a bass line of a half note “liwel by two quarter notes.
