This letter is in response to the advertisement on the website for the Oro Valley Hospital
regarding the New Graduate Nursing program hosted there. Ever since completing my
preceptorship on the Telemetry unit at Oro Valley, I have been greatly interested in seeking a
position with Oro Valley Hospital. In particular I am interested in a place within the ICU portion
of the program, as I have always been interested in critical care units and the challenges they
promise.
I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the
University of Arizona College of Nursing and will graduate in May 2020. I pride myself on
being highly adaptable and a quick learner, and in my ability to remain calm in a crisis. Over the
course of my clinical rotations I have assisted nursing staff during multiple emergencies,
including two Rapid Responses at Oro Valley Hospital. I am familiar with both the acute and
sub-acute patient populations through my experiences in the nursing program. In my time at the
Oro Valley telemetry unit I saw several still acute patients who had only just been downgraded to
the telemetry floor.
Having completed the nursing program at the University of Arizona, I am in no way
finished learning. I have a great passion for nursing care and health care in general, and greatly
enjoy learning more about it, and I anticipate continuing to further my education, to better myself
and the quality of the care I can provide to my patients. One of the philosophies I try to let guide
my life is that the day you stop changing is the day you die. Every day is an opportunity for
growth and learning, and it is my passion to use what I learn to serve others and ease their
suffering.
