Globalization has accelerated changes in the world order and consequently has raised new demands in
industry and academia as well. In order to meet these demands, we, at Gautam Buddha University, have
initiated a new model of Enlightened Education to address the needs of the new order and promote higher
education and research in new emerging areas in the field of Biotechnology, Information Technology,
Engineering and current practices in Management. We foster our mission for excellence in education and
training coupled with a value-based intellectual growth. With emphasis on the rigorous training and education
of our young aspirants, we ensure experiential learning and cutting edge research in various fields of studies.
Our meticulously designed curriculum and training programmes stay focussed on imparting all necessary skills
required in and desired from all new entrants of the industry and corporate world. As each School of learning in
the University combines a multilateral confluence of academic training, research, innovation and creativity, we
practice an interdisciplinary approach in teaching and learning process. Our accomplished faculty members

1.1 GREEN CAMPUS

1.2 About the Campus
Gautam Buddha University has planned and is developing one of the finest campuses that can rival the
best in the world. The University campus is an architectural marvel and has in its master plan the
following infrastructure facilities:
• A fully residential campus for all Faculty, Staff and Students with world class infrastructure and
support facilities,
• Total built up campus area 55 lacs sq.fts,
• Bodhisattva Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Library with total built up area 1.8 lacs sq.fts. with 2000 seating
capacity for library users at a time,

high-end technological exposure and a meaningful dissemination of knowledge coupled with
practicing wisdom.

2.0 ABOUT THE SCHOOLS OF LEARNING
Each School of learning in the University combines a multilateral confluence of academic training, research,
innovation and creativity. An effort is being made to draw a roadmap for this decade to arrive at another
milestone in our quest for academic excellence. The Schools and Centres of Excellence are embodiments of the
University's ever-growing quest for excellence in higher education and research. A brief description of these
Schools and their future directions is given as under.
2.1 SCHOOL OF BIOTECHNOLOGY
The School of Biotechnology is based on the motto of incorporating both teaching and research
atmosphere and facilities. Biotechnology combines disciplines like molecular biology, biochemistry,
microbiology, immunology, genetics and cell biology, which are in turn linked to practical disciplines
like chemical engineering, physics, and information technology. The School of Biotechnology
emphasizes on education programme with an emphasis to generate substantially trained pool
Biotechnologists to meet the country's ever increasing demands. The school is dedicated to provide
quality service through teamwork, partnerships, and developing team and individual strengths. The
School is an active centre of basic and applied research. At present, the School offers the following

2.2 SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING
In accordance with the Vision of the University, School of Engineering has been conceptualized with an
objective to work out and develop a dependable model for growth, consistency and significant
breakthrough in cutting edge technology and innovation in core engineering fields. The rapid diffusion
of core engineering fields like Mechanical and Electrical Engineering has the potential of bringing
improvement in productivity and efficiency in almost every aspect of our life and consequently turning
out to be a key driver of our economic growth. The school is committed to prepare technology leaders
for tomorrow with our innovative curriculum and meticulous pedagogy for training. It primarily aimed
to excel in research and run post graduation programmes in areas of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil
Engineering and Architecture & Regional Planning. At present, the school comprises of four
departments namely - Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering and
Architecture & Regional Planning.

2.5 SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT
The School of Management has been marching on with an integrated focus on exploring and creating
new avenues for young aspirants through strategic collaborations with institutions and enterprises of
national and international repute. The school has state of the art classrooms equipped with computing
facilities and supported by an extensive library of books, journals, films & databases. The curriculum of
all its academic activities has international and cross cultural focus. The school has specialization
groups (HRM, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Strategy etc.) that organize weekly activities.

2.6 SCHOOL OF VOCATIONAL STUDIES & APPLIED SCIENCES
The School of Vocational Studies & Applied Sciences comprises the primary disciplines of Chemistry,
Mathematics, and Physics along with two inter disciplinary subjects, Environmental Science, and Food
Processing & Technology. All academic programmes emphasize the integration of the theoretical
knowledge with practical applications. Through its academic and research staff, the school possesses a
depth and breadth of scientific knowledge. Our breadth of offerings integrate basic sciences to
provide a fertile ground for new discoveries and innovative research, drawing together individual
expertise and diverse ideas from a variety of fields. The School offers core courses in physical sciences
to graduate students of all branches of Engineering, Biotechnology, Managment, Information and
Communication Technology. The school is all set to start postgraduate/doctoral programmes that
support specialized inter disciplinary fields of teaching, research and industry engagement in polymer
chemistry, green chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, environmental science, food technology,
photonics & optoelectronics, nanotechnology, computational fluid dynamics, financial mathematics

and industrial Mathematics.
Apart from these courses, the School also offers a wide range of vocational courses of short duration
to increase opportunities and human expertise in varied fields of the professional world.
At present, the School offers the following Programmes:

*The admission in diploma level programmes will be done at school level. No entrance
examination will be conducted by the admission office.
With a very rich library, a grand meditation centre, a serene campus, the School promises a very
productive academic engagement and practice of Buddhist techniques of Vipassana meditation under
qualified supervision. In addition to the above, the School provides an ideal forum for cross-cultural
and international dialogues, with regular sessions with scholars, conventions, symposia, seminars,
conferences, lecture series, etc. It is open to academic collaborations, joint research programmes and
faculty & student exchange programmes with academic institutions of repute dedicated to Buddhist
Studies.

The Campus Network connects to Departments, Schools and Centers. Network Connectivity is also
provided to the remote locations which include Student Hostels, Institute Hospital, Main Gate, Guest
House, etc. In addition to the above, Computer Centre started Web-based Email System. The Campus

had to provide its students the necessary technology skills to upgrade or share their knowledge. There
was a need for a robust campus network that provided every student access to internal servers and the
Internet.
3.5 MAHATMA JYOTIBA PHULE MEDITATION CENTRE
Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Dhyana Kendra, inspired by stupa architecture is a learning and retreat centre
to give an experience of the power of peace and inner silence. The centre is looking forward to
organize seminars, lectures and experiential workshops in meditation, positive values, stress free
living and self management. It aims to help the residents at campus in recognizing their own inherent
qualities and recollect their inner most potential. The meditation centre facilitates the experience of
the inner self through silence.
3.6 INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE
The international convention centre of the university, which shall be functional in the academic
session (2012-13), aspires to become a true global platform for intellectual exchanges. The centre is
looking forward to host a number of programmes, activities, and engagements. An impeccable
infrastructure keeps it ahead of the best available in the class.
3.7 MANYWAR SHRI KANSHI RAM CENTRAL AUDITORIUM
Apart from four auditoria in alternative sequence in the eight Schools of learning, the University will be
completing the construction of a central auditorium at its campus with the capacity of 3000 seats at a
time in the academic session (2012-13). The state-of-the-art auditorium shall be equipped with all
kind of advanced audio-video systems. The auditorium will be facilitating the academic as well as
extracurricular activities at the University campus.
3.8 INTERNATIONAL CENTRE AND GUEST HOUSE
The centrally air conditioned building has state of the art convention centre conference halls,
committee rooms, more than 40 suits and a huge central hall. In addition to International Centre and
Guest House, the University Guest House situated adjacent to the building houses 100 well furnished
rooms with huge open area and a lush green lawn at the centre of the building.

3.9 STUDENTS' ACCOMMODATION AND HOSTEL FACILITIES
The University is a fully residential campus, which has separate hostel accommodations for boys and
girls with 5000 single seated hostel rooms and complete wi-fi premises. There are three women’s
hostels and Six men's hostels. These hostel complexes have state of the art facilities. To enable the
students to spend quality time in the University each hostel is equipped with a common room, T.V.
Room, Table Tennis Room, Reading Room, Internet Room, Indoor Games Room, Gymnasium,
Badminton Courts and Basketball Court. Each room in the hostel is provided with an internet
connection. In addition to this each hostel has a medical room and a visiting room. All the hostels are
supported by the solar system which helps in the supply of hot water during winter.

3.10.1 CULTURAL FACILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
Culture is the widening of mind and spirits, which is well displayed by the students of Gautam Buddha
University. The beauty of every culture is enhanced by the minds that practice it. GBU's annual cultural
event intends to add wings to intellect, imagery, and creativity of our students. It aims at dissolving the
cultural demarcations and facilitating a new school of thought where every student thinks beyond
boundaries but still grounded to his values. It also gives a platform to the budding managers and
compels them to think out of the box. The cultural council of the university consists of following clubs :-

3.10.2 SPORTS FACILITIES / ACTIVITIES
The university promotes multi dimensional growth with emphasis on an integrated physical and
intellectual training. The Eklavya Sports Complex spread over 58 acres with indoor and outdoor
stadium of global standards, equipped with state-of-the art sports facilities is getting ready in this
academic session to shape health and sports aspirations of the students. It has an Olympic size
swimming pool with an additional practice track and a world class gymnasium. Facilities that comprise
games functions and sports facilities are given as under.
