I am writing in regards to the instrumental teacher applicant pool position in your school district
for the 2020-2021 school year. Please accept this letter and the enclosed resume as an
expression of my genuine interest in pursuing a band position and joining your school
community.

I am a current student teacher in my last semester at James Madison University. I will be

graduating in May with a Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumental Music Education. In addition to my
required coursework, I have worked with local high school band programs, taught private
lessons, played in local ensembles, and presented my own research in music education at both
the Virginia Music Educators Association Conference in 2018 and the Association for Popular
Music Education Conference in 2019. My certification will be in PreK-12 Instrumental and
Vocal/Choral Education. I hope you will find that my qualifications match your requirements.
