It’s something I do…
This is a superb ESL resource for teaching your students about adverbs of manner.

Before class, make one copy of the worksheet for each pair of students and cut as indicated.

Procedure

Divide the class into pairs (A and B).

Give each pair a set of shuffled adverb cards. Tell them to place the cards face down in a
pile.

Also, give each student a piece of paper to write on.

Students take it in turns to play. Student A takes the top card and writes down an activity
they do that matches the adverb.

Example:

Adverb card: badly

Student A writes: I sing badly.

Student A then says, “It’s something I do badly.”

Student B has five tries to guess the activity, e.g. Do you draw badly?

If Student B guesses correctly the first time, he/she gets five points. If Student B guesses
correctly the second time, he/she gets four points. The third guess equals three points and
so on.

The player with the highest score at the end of the game is the winner.
