I know I get the average amount of sleep for my age though I believe that my
bedtime should be extended. Children my age should get at least 9-10 hours of sleep
which I definitely do get. Now I know it might be hard to change your mind, though I
have some strong reasons. One being my productivity, you are aware that I finish
my homework on time and you might have also realized that I finish quite fast. That
is because I take power naps, they are known to help with stress and productivity.
My second reason is spending time with family. Staying up an hour or two late
means spending more time with my family. My last reason is taking care of myself,
and being cautious of my health when I am older. In these next three paragraphs I
talk some more about why you should extend my bedtime.
Did you know that power naps give a big effect on your productivity level and
boost your efficiency / creativity. Most experts agree that if you want to have a
quick jolt of alertness a 10-20 minute power nap is best. I take power naps because
they help me with my productivity and give me a boost of energy. For example,
power naps improve your learning and memory, they also prevent stress and put
you in a better mood. The type of sleep you get and the length of your nap help
determine the brain-boosting value. It is much better to take naps than to stay
awake for long periods. Since I take power naps my work gets done faster because
my productivity level gets higher. As I finish my work you can tell that I am
responsible enough to stay up an hour or two late.
If I am staying up an hour or two later I get to spend more quality time with
my mom and my family in general which can build a better relationship between my
family and I. My mom comes from work late so I don’t get that much time to talk to
her and spend some quality time with her. If I am staying up an hour or two longer it
shouldn’t matter as much because I am using this time to catch up with the people I
love. Since my mom comes from work late if I would need help with homework I
would need her to come home so that I could ask her for help. My sister usually
helps me during the day though at night with my mom, we would get to do something
fun. Such as watching a movie/tv show, playing a game, baking, going on a walk in the
evenings and much more. In conclusion it should be ok if I am staying up an hour or
two later because I am using the time to spend with my family.
You're probably thinking that I need a lot of sleep to be healthy but do you
know that too much sleep can be bad for you. Too much sleep can be bad for your
mind and body according to several studies done over the years. It can give you
pain and a hard time concentrating it can also lead to depression. Too much sleep
can also higher the chances of you getting heart disease, stroke and diabetes. All
this explains how too much sleep can be bad for you. Now you might say, why
should a 10 year old care about getting heart disease or diabetes at such a young
age? But I say, many health issues run in my family and if I am looking ahead now I
am being cautious of my health for when I am older. With that being said I believe
that my bedtime should be extended.
