Battlefleet: Heresy

Harbingers of the Omnissiah

0
This list is meant to represent the various crusade fleets of th Mechancium during the Horus Heresy, and
as such make use of rules found in the Basic Rulebook, the Armada supplement and the 2010
Compendium. These rules are purely supplemental and are in no way endorsed or supported by Games
Workshop or Forgeworld. While all attempts have been made to ensure balance, we are not professional
game designers. In all cases, make judicial use of common sense and narrative judgement.

The Harbingers of the Omnissiah fleet list makes use of all the rules presented in “Ships of the
Adeptus Mechanicus” with some amendments

Fleet Commanders: While the Mechanicum have dedicated starship crews, they are captained by
senior Magi of their order, rather than Imperial Army officers or Rogue Traders Militant. They follow a
different hierarchy, and are a law unto themselves.

Mechanicum fleets over 1000pts in value must have either an Archmagos Explorator for 50pts or an
Archmagos Veneratus for 100pts. Additionally, command rerolls may be bought for 50pts each, to a
maximum of two. Mechancium Archmagos Explorators and Veneratus are Ld.8 and Ld.9, respectively.
But all other Mechanicum vessels roll on the following table.

Golden Age in The Void: During the halcyon days of the Great Crusade, the fleets of Humanity were
filled with ancient technological marvels they have since lost the ability to replicate. It was an armada
made to conquer the galaxy, the likes of which had not been seen before, nor since.

Your fleet may include 1 heavy cruiser for every 1 cruiser, 1 Grand/Battle cruiser for any 2 heavy cruisers
or cruisers and may include one Battleship for every 3 ships of another class (excluding escorts) per
1000pts. In addition, for every 400pts, your fleet may include one Experimental Ship.

Fleet Carriers: Imperial carriers often held a wide variety of craft to face an equally wide variety of
threats. This was especially true of Mechanicum vessels, which also held a compliment of void automata,
servitor manned drones and other esoteric craft.

All carriers are equipped only with the attack craft stated in their profile. Mechanicum vessels do not have
access to Thunderhawks or Thunderhawk variants.
Heresy Era Ships
Designer’s Note: The ships selected for inclusion in the BFH fleet lists are selected based on inclusion in
Black Library Horus Heresy/Heresy Black Books, or a lack of specific BFG reference to the class being
definitely created post-heresy. Not all of the ships found in the Battlefleet Gothic rulebook, Armada or
2010 Compendium had been developed as of the Horus Heresy. Therefore, not all of them are available
for use. Where sources disagree the most recent fluff was used. Additionally a heresy-specific class
without rules bearing the same traits as a BFG class without firm pre-Heresy dates of service (Like the
Thunderbolt/Apostate) were included for completeness and to enable the largest range of current
collections to be used. This fleet draws vessels from the Imperial Navy, Chaos and Space Marine lists.

**A Note on Nova Cannons: These may not be taken by any ship unless otherwise specified. If a ship is
normally equipped with a nova cannon, it replaces the Nova Cannon with Strength 6 torpedoes and has
its cost reduced by 10pts. Those ships that use Nova Cannons must successfully Reload Ordnance in
order to fire them after the first shot.**

Ancient Doctrine: The vessels of the Basilikon Astra were constructed with an older art,
employing technologies not seen since the great sundering of the Machine Cult, and in a
stunning array of variety.

Mechanicum vessels are subject to a number of modifications not seen in their counterparts in
the 41st Millennium.
● Mechanicum cruisers do not equip a 60cm dorsal lance, but reduce their points cost by
10pts.
● Mechanicum light cruisers and cruisers may exchange their torpedo salvo for a single
30cm Dorsal lance firing L/F/R for no cost, or a single 45cm Dorsal lance firing L/F/R for
no cost, respectively.
● Mechanicum light cruisers may mount 6+ prow armor for no cost, but this reduces their
turn to 45°.
● Any Capitol ship normally equipped with 30cm weapon batteries may pay +10pts to
incorporate plasma-boosted batteries that increase their range to 45cm.
● Any Grand Cruiser may purchase a third shield for 10pts, if it does not already have
three, but must be mounted on a 60cm base if it does.

● The following vessels have their points costs increased, and/or their armaments modified
○ Desolator Battleship: +25pts, and may replace its torpedos with a Nova Cannon
for no cost
○ Victory Battleship: +25pts, and mounts a Str9 prow torpedo instead of the
standard Nova cannon. However it may still exchange its prow torpedoes for a
Nova cannon for 10pt
○ Apocalypse Battleship: +35pts, and mounts a Str9 prow torpedo instead of the
standard Nova cannon. However it may still exchange its prow torpedoes for a
Nova cannon for 10pt
○ Avenger Grand Cruiser: +25pts
○ Exorcist Grand Cruiser: +25pts
○ Repulsive Grand Cruiser: +25pts
○ Cardinal Heavy Cruiser: +20pts
○ Styx Heavy Cruiser: +20pts
○ Hades Heavy Cruiser: +20pts
○ Hellfire Heavy Cruiser: +20pts
○ Devastation cruiser: +20pts
○ Murder cruiser: +20pts
○ Slaughter cruiser: +20pts

The Lore of Mars: The Fleets of the Mechanicum have many a rare and terrible weapon at their
disposal, and their decks are stalked by arcane automata and cyborgs.

● Specialist Torpedos: Any capital ship with torpedo capacity may be equipped with
Specialist torpedoes selected from the following list, 15pts for salvos with a strength of 6
or less or 20pts for salvos greater than 6. These may be fired once per game as per the
rules in the Armada Compendium, and are resupplied automatically every game in a
campaign setting. No more than 25% of eligible ships (to a minimum of one) may be
equipped with vortex torpedoes.
- Cyclonic torpedoes: In addition to normal damage, cyclonic torpedoes cause a
fire critical for every successful hit on a roll of 4+
- Cybernetica Cortical: These torpedoes may re-roll unsuccessful hits.
- Life Eater ß-Strain: These torpedoes cause damage normally, but will cause a
critical on a roll of 4+. Any critical results of 11 or 12 must be re-rolled (but the
second result stands, even if 11 or 12).
- Vortex torpedoes. These follow all rules found in the Armada compendium.
● Nova Cannons: Any Mechanicum capital ship with 6+ prow armor (except light cruisers)
may exchange Str6 or less prow torpedoes for a Nova cannon for 20pts or Str7-9
torpedoes for a nova cannon for 10pts
● Power Ram: Any Mechanicum capital ship with 6+ prow armor may pay 5pts to mount a
powered ram. Cruisers with a nova cannon may not also mount a power ram, however
battleships may mount a power ram in addition to a nova cannon, so long as modeled
appropriately.
● Autosimulacra: Any Mechanicum grand cruiser or battleship may incorporate a Blessed
Autosimulacra into their vessel for 25pts or 30pts, respectively. An Autosimulacra adds a
single extra die to the number rolled during end phase repair attempts, cumulative with
any other bonuses. In addition, an Autosimulacra allows Mechanicum vessels to repair
an “unrepairable” critical hit such as a smashed bridge or shield collapse and/or restore
hull points (up to a maximum of 2 in a single turn) per two successes. This may be
performed in any combination with normal repair actions. For example, if a Mechanicum
vessel rolls four 6s during the repair phase, it may elect to restore two hull points, one
hull point and an unrepairable critical, a hull point and two normal criticals, etc.
● Cyborg Armsmen: Any Mechanicum capital ship may purchase a Skitarii reserve for
+10pts and gain +1 to boarding and -1 to any hit and run attacks made against these
vessels. A single Grand cruiser or Battleship may, instead or in addition to Skitarii, elect
to pay +20pts for maniples of Cybernetica Void-Aegis automata and receive a +2/-1 to
boarding/hit and run attacks, cumulative with any other bonuses.
